COMPANY OVERVIEW
Covenant is a global defense company headquartered in Washington, D.C., building long-range precision strike weapons for the United States and its allies. Its flagship munition, Anthem, combines heavy payload and long range at a fraction of the cost of comparable legacy systems, with production volumes designed to meet the demands of prolonged conflict. Designed as an end-to-end weapon system that is simple to store, transport, and field, Anthem is produced in the United States, Germany, and Israel. For more information, visit covenant.com
THE ROLE
As Covenant's first full-time Social Media Lead, you will build the company's public presence from the ground up. Working directly with our founders, you will shape how customers, partners, future employees, and the broader defense community see the work happening across our test ranges, engineering teams, and factory floors.
There is no existing team or playbook. You will own the function end-to-end, from daily publishing and content creation to developing Covenant's voice and long-term narrative. As the company scales, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a broader social and content team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own Covenant's X and LinkedIn accounts, as well as the founders' accounts, including daily publishing, voice, and content strategy.
- Turn engineering, testing, manufacturing, and company milestones into compelling content.
- Develop content around flight tests, production milestones, facility launches, key hires, and other moments that demonstrate Covenant's progress.
- Partner directly with founders and leadership on public communications and major company announcements.
- Create posts, graphics, photography, and rough video content yourself.
- Build a consistent voice and visual identity across Covenant's social channels.
- Monitor real-time conversations, trends, and moments across defense, technology, manufacturing, and internet culture.
- Build relationships with relevant communities, creators, and voices across defense and technology.
- Establish the processes, tools, and strategy needed to scale Covenant's social presence.
- Build and lead a social and content team as the company grows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in social media, content, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing social media accounts, preferably for a company, founder, or high-growth organization.
- Exceptional writing skills and strong visual instincts.
- Ability to independently create social content, including graphics, photography, and basic video.
- Strong understanding of X, LinkedIn, and current internet culture.
- Ability to move quickly and capitalize on real-time opportunities.
- Strong judgment around what should—and should not—be communicated publicly.
- Comfortable operating as the first hire in a new function with significant ownership and ambiguity.
- Willingness to work onsite in Dallas, Texas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, hardware, technology, or a related industry.
- Existing understanding of defense, national security, military technology, or adjacent communities.
- Experience working directly with founders or senior executives on their social presence.
- Experience building a company's social media function from the ground up.
- Experience with photography, video production, graphic design, or creative tools.
- Experience managing or mentoring a social media or content team.
WHAT MAKES YOU SUCCESSFUL
- You understand the internet and know what people will actually stop scrolling to look at.
- You can turn complex engineering and manufacturing work into content that is clear, compelling, and credible.
- You have strong creative instincts but understand that credibility matters as much as engagement.
- You move quickly, take ownership, and don't need a playbook to get started.
- You are comfortable working directly with founders and senior leadership.
- You know how to represent an ambitious defense company authentically without making the work feel like corporate marketing.
- You are excited to be close to the work—on the factory floor, at test events, and alongside the engineers and operators building Anthem.
