About Kobalt Labs

Kobalt is the AI-native risk and compliance operating system for financial institutions (FIs). Compliance is critical for FIs to get right, but most of their work still happens manually, in legacy technology or Excel.

Banks, credit unions, and fintechs across the country use Kobalt to automate third party risk management, screen marketing collateral, and streamline other critical workflows across ERM and policy management. Since our Series A, we've grown revenue more than 5x and work with some of the most notable names in financial services, including Chime, Upstart, ORNL FCU, MVB Bank, and Zions Bancorp.

The Role

We're looking for a superconnector in financial services to drive Kobalt's relationships with financial institutions across the country.

This is not a sales role. You'll build relationships with leaders in the ecosystem, amplify existing customers, turn relationships into opportunities for Kobalt, and make sure every FI knows who Kobalt is. You'll host events, attend conferences, bring the right people together, and leverage a network that compounds over time.

The best person for this role is already deeply embedded financial services. Maybe you know seemingly every community banker in Texas, have spent years working with partner banks, or are deeply embedded in the credit union ecosystem. You know who matters, people pick up when you call, and you're excited to turn that network into a meaningful growth channel for Kobalt.

What You'll Do

• Build and deepen relationships with financial institutions, industry associations, and other partners that can drive Kobalt's growth.
• Create new commercial opportunities through your existing network and by continuously expanding it.
• Represent Kobalt at conferences and industry events across the country, building relationships with prospective customers and partners.
• Organize dinners, roundtables, and other events that bring together leaders across banking, risk, and compliance.
• Develop partnerships with associations and other organizations that give Kobalt deeper reach into financial institution communities.
• Work closely with our founders and marketing team to identify the communities, events, and relationships where Kobalt should invest.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in or around financial institutions, with a top tier network in a meaningful segment of the industry.
• A track record of building relationships that have led to commercial opportunities, partnerships, or meaningful business outcomes.
• Deep familiarity with at least one financial institution ecosystem, whether community banks, credit unions, partner banks, fintechs, or another relevant niche.
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, from hosting a dinner with bank executives to following up with someone you met at a conference.
• High ownership and resourcefulness. You're comfortable figuring out which rooms Kobalt should be in, hustling into them, and making something happen once we're there.

Python/FastAPI + React/Next.js - but we care more about your ability to learn and ship quickly than specific tech experience.
