AI Software Engineering Intern

Zarna builds AI associates for private equity firms. Our agents work inside Outlook, Teams, Slack, CRMs, and file systems to turn CIMs, emails, meeting notes, and deal data into finished work. They maintain clean records, draft investment materials, and surface relationship intelligence before deal teams need to ask.

Our founders built AI systems from inside a private equity deal team before starting Zarna. That experience shaped how we work today: stay close to users, understand the real workflow, and ship against real business problems.

We are hiring interns who want meaningful ownership early. You will work with the founders and engineering team on production AI agents, enterprise integrations, evaluations, product decisions, and customer deployments. Interns at Zarna ship work that reaches the product and influences how we build the company.

About the Role

Zarna is hiring an AI Software Engineering Intern to help build AI associates for private equity firms. You will work with the founders and engineering team, own scoped projects, and ship features used in real customer workflows.

This role suits a student or graduate who has moved beyond tutorials and built something meaningful with AI.

What You’ll Work On

• Build AI-powered product features using Python, TypeScript, and modern language models

• Develop agents that understand documents, emails, and other unstructured business data

• Design and run evaluations that measure accuracy and reliability

• Improve our web application and enterprise integrations

• Test, deploy, and iterate on your work using customer feedback

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science

• Hands-on AI experience through projects, research, or prior internships

• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, TypeScript, or another modern language

• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and solve open-ended problems

• High ownership, attention to detail, and comfort working at startup speed

Nice to Have

• Experience working at an early-stage startup

• Experience with LLMs, agents, retrieval, or evaluation systems

• Technical experience in financial services, investment banking, M&A, or private equity

• A project, GitHub profile, or portfolio that demonstrates what you have built

The core technical challenge is turning probabilistic AI models into dependable products for high-stakes workflows. We work on agent reasoning, document understanding, information retrieval, evaluations, and integrations with enterprise software. Our systems process unstructured data such as emails, financial documents, meeting notes, and CRM records.

We use Python and FastAPI on the backend, TypeScript, React, and Next.js on the frontend, and a PostgreSQL-based data stack. We work with modern language models and agent frameworks, choosing tools based on the problem rather than committing to one model or provider.

Interns work alongside the founders and engineering team, own scoped problems from idea to deployment, and ship features used in real customer workflows. We value strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
